Why Fresh, Organic Food/Drinks Cost More

 

At the Northgate Juice Joint we use organic produce for everything listed on the Environmental Working Group’s (EWG) dirty dozen (most pesticide/herbicide residue) and we don’t use chemicals or artificial fillers to extend the shelf life of our products.  For example, our cashew milk is made with organic cashews and filtered water only! Thus, we make everything to order and/or in small batches and we pay 3-4x more for organic produce and products.

Why Organic Matters?

There is a continuing debate regarding whether organic produce differs from conventional produce.  Some corporations deeply invested in the conventional methods (chemicals vs natural) spend a lot of money trying to convince the public and our legislators, that their product is beneficial, not harmful, and just as good as the organic. Based on common sense, research, and other countries’ findings….our “conventional methods of producing vegetables, fruits and farm animals” are not always overly healthly or beneficial and are not adequate substitutes for organic products.

Bees are Dying – This isn’t a Joke or Hoax, it is Very Serious

40% of honeybee colonies died in the past year according to a recent USDA report and that doesn’t include all the deaths prior to that time.  The culprit appears to be a neuro-toxic pesticide marketed by Bayer.  It affects the central nervous system that impairs the bee’s mobility, navigation, feeding, foraging, memory, and learning.  Bees go foraging and never return, very unusual.   When the European Union was presented with this evidence, they immediately suspended the use of the most widely used neonicotinoids.

Debunking Negatives about Juice Cleanses
